The Irondequoit Art Club (IAC) will hold its 64rd Annual Spring Show & Sale May 4 through May 11 at the Summerville Presbyterian Church, 4845 St. Paul Blvd., Irondequoit, NY 14617. IAC members Judy Peterson, and Barb Petro are Co-Chairs of this event. Admission is free. Credit card sales will be accepted. The site is accessible to all.
Best of Show, Juror & Merit Awards will be presented to those pieces deemed noteworthy by professional artist judges. This year’s judges are Nancy and Bill Holowka. Nancy Anne Holowka is an accomplished potter and fine arts photographer, who earned a B.S. in Art History & Studio Art, Nazareth College. William Holowka, is a gifted acrylicpainter and carousel animal restorer, who earned an A.A.S. Monroe Community College and a B.S. in Studio Art, Nazareth College. Both Nancy and Bill are award recipients and have exhibited extensively at venues including the Finger Lakes, The Clothesline, galleries at NTID, MCC and Nazareth College. Artist awards will be presented during the Opening Reception on Saturday, May 4 from 2 to 5 PM. As in previous years, there will be a “Meet the Artists Day” on Saturday, May 11, beginning at 1 PM. Several artists will speak for up to 10 minutes about their entries and answer questions. This will be a unique opportunity to gain insights into the artist’s process in terms of inspiration, artistic journey, background, and techniques. There will be a Popular Vote Award determined by art show visitors who will have the opportunity to cast ballots during the run of the show. The winners will be determined after the show’s end. The Rochester Art Club 2023 Members Fall Art Exhibition returns to the community room at Barnes & Noble. You can see the show at Pittsford Plaza, 3349 Monroe Ave, Rochester, NY 14618, which opened on Sunday, November 5, 2023. The reception and awards ceremony was on Thursday, November 9, from 6-8:00 pm. The annual exhibition is a juried show open only to Rochester Art Club member artists. From the 135 pieces submitted by 48 members, juror Corey Pitkin selected 55 for the show. A wide variety of subject matter and styles comprise this exhibition, and many works are for sale. Corey Pitkin’s award-winning work has been featured in The Pastel Journal, Art Renewal Center, Portrait Society of America, Pratique des Arts Magazine, and International Artist Magazine and is held in collections worldwide. He is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, serving on the Board of Governors. Corey has achieved Master Circle status with the International Association of Pastel Societies and assists with technology needs. Pitkin teaches frequently online and regularly travels for in-person workshops. He resides in upstate New York with his wife Esther and children Anastasia and Xavier. The Irondequoit Art Club’s HOLIDAY ARTS & CRAFTS SALE, will open on Saturday, November 18 at 9:30 AM and will run through Sunday, November 26. The show is for the second year in a row at a NEW LOCATION - SUMMERVILLE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 4845 St. Paul Blvd., Rochester, NY 14617. As in the past, credit card payments will be accepted, and Sunday shopping will be available from 12pm to 4pm. Admission is free. The site is accessible to all.
Talented artists representing many media styles will be offering for sale original & unique items. An exhibit of paintings by area artists will be on display in the 19th Annual Penfield Art Association at Legacy at Willow Pond Autumn Art Show and Sale.
The exhibit opens Sunday, October 1and runs until Saturday, Oct. 28. An opening reception takes place 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 1. A closing reception and awards presentation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Oct. 28. The show is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The artwork can be viewed throughout Legacy at Willow Pond, an independent senior living community at 40 Willow Pond Way, Penfield. In conjunction with the show at the Legacy an online show can be viewed at penfieldartassociation.com. A special feature of this show is a salute to the Town of Penfield with an award category for works depicting local scenes and landmarks. The autumn show is one of three annual exhibits presented by the Penfield Art Association. Formed in 1963, the Penfield Art Association today has members from throughout the Rochester area. The organization is open to artists of all skill levels and people interested in the two-dimensional visual arts. The exhibit reception is Thursday, July 6, from 6 to 8 pm, and refreshments will be served. The reception is open to the public, and will provide an opportunity to meet many of the participating artists. Over 70 original pieces will be on display, in media ranging from oil to watercolor to pastel and locations painted ranging from backyards to iconic Finger Lakes scenes. The Rochester Art Club 2023 Signature Members Spring Art Exhibition opens on Tuesday, April 4, with an awards ceremony and reception on Saturday, April 8, from 2 to 4 PM. Thirty-four signature members are participating in the show, with 64 works accepted for the exhibit from 112 submitted.

The Rochester Art Club was established in 1877 and is the second oldestactive art organization in the United States. Liz Haywood-Sullivan, PSA-MP, IAPS/EP, performed jurying for selection and awards. She has worked exclusively in the pastel medium since 1996. She is a sought-after instructor and judge for pastel societies and arts organizations worldwide. Liz authored the popular book Painting Brilliant Skies and Water in Pastel (Northlight, 2013). Her award-winning pastel paintings have been featured in numerous books and magazine articles and have appeared in national, international, and museum exhibitions worldwide. White is a Professor Emeritus of Painting and Drawing at Hollins University. His works have been shown in over thirty solo exhibitions and over one hundred juried and invitational group shows in America. He moved to Caledonia, NY with his wife Linda where they opened the Village Gallery on Main Street. Stephens, a Rochester native, received her BFA and Master degrees from RIT. A love of organic form and a spiritual connection to nature is at the heart of her art, which includes oil and encaustic painting, graphite and colored pencil drawing and mixed media. Jean is represented by Oxford Gallery, Shop One and Mill Art Center and Gallery. Artist awards will be presented during the Opening Reception on Sunday, May 7 from 2 to 4 PM. The Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. GVPAP’s Annual Art Show is free and open to the public.
The Genesee Valley Plein Air Painters, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization of outdoor artists that promotes and inspires quality plein air painting. It was established in September 2005. Ninety new plein air paintings by twenty five artists were accepted in this juried show by Judge George VanHook. GVPAP’s Annual Art Show is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are store hours.
