Multi-faceted artist, Cynthia Iannaconne, will give a demonstration of her art entitled “From Sketch to Finish: The Illustration of Cynthia Iannaccone” at the September 26 meeting of the Irondequoit Art Club to be held 7:30 PM at Chapel Oaks, St. Ann’s Community, 1550 Portland Ave., Rochester, NY 14621, after the club’s 7PM business meeting. Cynthia’s presentation will include demo of two different techniques, illustration and abstraction. Her illustration work starts out very loose and then becomes tighter and tighter. She will show her gouache technique and also abstract oil pastel in which she uses a sgraffito effect.
Cynthia’s background is in Fine Arts and includes an MA in Studio Art/Illustration, from Marywood University, Scranton, PA; a BFA in Printmaking from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design- Halifax, Canada, and New York State Art Education certificate PreK thru 12th grade. She teaches art part-time at the University of Rochester's Memorial Art Gallery; facilitates art at the Creative Opportunities, Mental Health Association, Rochester; and volunteers at the Equicenter Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship, Mendon. She believes in education, lifelong learning, self-discipline, motivation, curiosity, and a driven need to work. She has a passion for research, experimenting, and trying out new processes which keep her continually engaged in her work. Cynthia paints, illustrates books, writes poetry, teaches art and calligraphy. Her inspirations are nature, folklore, fairy tales, dog tails, horse tails, mythology, story, music and art. Small works shows are the going thing for December these days, and you can be in on it!
The P. Tribastone Fine Art Gallery is hosting a juried event celebrating small paintings done in the realistic style. Here’s the details:
Dates: Deadline for submission: November 1, 2017. Notification of accepted/declined paintings: November 11, 2017 via email. Drop off date: Wednesday, November 29 and Thursday, November 30, from 10-6pm. Artist’s Reception: December 9, 5-8pm. Pick up of unsold work: January 2, noon to 5pm, January 3, noon-5pm. Your work will be seen by Holiday shoppers in Canandaigua, and during special events including the Downtown Canandaigua wine walk and the Artisan’s Showcase. Special events for the Artisan’s showcase will be forthcoming.
