NOTE: Irondequoit Art Club announces cancellation of the March 24 business meeting and speaker (Dejan Pejovic) which had been scheduled at Chapel Oaks at 7pm. Cancellaion is due to precautions being taken during the corona-virus situation. Rochester sculptor and art instructor, DEJAN PEJOVIC, will present a slideshow entitled “Artistic Creativity, Processes, Themes and Trends” at the Tuesday, March 24, 2020 meeting of the Irondequoit Art Club to be held 7:30 PM at Chapel Oaks, St. Ann’s Community, 1550 Portland Ave., Rochester, NY 14621, after the club’s 7 PM business meeting. (Enter St. Ann’s Campus and bear left following signs to the main entrance of Chapel Oaks.) There is no charge for this event and the site is accessible to all. Dejan will present a bit of his past work with a greater focus on his most recent projects and will talk about his creative process, themes and current trends in art. He currently teaches ceramic and figure sculpture, observational drawing and relief sculpture at the Memorial Art Gallery’s Creative Workshop. He will encourage questions about his work, and since he presently teaches drawing will also welcome discussion of that facet of his experience. Dejan had a European infused background which contributed to his aesthetic outlook. His family settled in Irondequoit when he was 10 years old after much moving around. Since he was good with his hands, he naturally gravitated to making things. Art was the family business. His father had a background in graphic design and opened a gallery. Dejan and his sister, Lanna, a painter, encouraged each other in their artistic endeavors. Dejan studied art in Rochester, London and Toronto. He settled back here in 1981 and has been working and teaching here ever since. He currently works mostly with clay. He can be contacted at [email protected]
